Leader of the Liverpool Lib Dems

Cllr Carl Cashman

A young, driven leader who puts Liverpool first and never accepts second best for the city we all love.

Cllr Carl Cashman

A strong voice for Liverpool

Carl leads the Liberal Democrat group on Liverpool City Council, the main opposition to Labour. He has spent his time as a councillor doing two things: helping residents with the problems the council should have fixed, and holding Labour to account when it lets the city down.

Our current politicians have allowed Manchester to move ahead, and the risk grows unless Liverpool has a strong voice. Carl wants a city that is confident about its future, cares for its old and young, and has clean streets and clean politics.

Holding Labour to account

Fighting for every street on HMOs

When Labour's Cabinet voted to protect only some parts of the city from HMO conversions, Carl led the call-in of the decision and argued for an immediate Article 4 direction covering every ward.

“Residents on one street now get a say on HMOs. One street over, it's a free-for-all.”Cllr Carl Cashman

Carl has pledged that a Lib Dem-led council would bring in a city-wide Article 4 direction on day one.

Here when you need help

From pension problems to broken boilers, Carl and the Lib Dem team help residents across the city get the answers and action they're owed.

“I was really worried about money being taken from me when I was already struggling, but Carl helped me to claim what I was entitled to and he got my boiler fixed too.”Eunice, 82, China Town
